WE NEED YOU!!!

GHA factored homeowners are attending a lobby of the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 8 October 2013 to demand that all GHA homeowners who had overcladding work carried out since 2005 are given retrospective refunds because other factored homeowners have been getting the same external overcladding work done for nothing or for a small nominal sum.

We need YOU to come to this lobby, as we will be meeting MSPs and the media to put our case and only with a large turnout will we be successful.  Therefore, I am asking you to come to Buchanan Street Bus Station, to meet inside the Station at the Lovers’ Statue at 10.45 a.m. to get a bus through to Edinburgh.  The cost of a return trip for all Senior Citizens will be £0 and £8 return for anyone else.  It is very important that you attend this lobby.

MARCH AND RALLY AGAINST THE BEDROOM TAX

Most Housing Associations in Glasgow and the West of Scotland are communicating with their tenants this week to attend a large march and rally against the unpopular Bedroom Tax (the so-called Bedroom Tax is a large cut in Housing Benefit because a tenant or tenants have one or more under-occupied bedrooms) on Saturday 14 September, assembling at 11.30 a.m. at the Glasgow Green and marching off at 12 noon to march through the Gorbals to the South Side of the Clyde to a large rally protesting against the Bedroom Tax.  Across the River at the Armadillo, Nick Clegg, Deputy Prime Minister, will be attending the Liberal Democrat Conference.  The protesters, consisting of tenants, trade unionists and progressive homeowners, will call on the Nick Clegg, as part of the Westminster Coalition to abandon this unpopular tax.

We would urge all progressive people to come along to this march and rally.

DECISIONS MADE AT OPEN MEETING OF THE GLASGOW HOMEOWNERS’ CAMPAIGN ON THURSDAY 29 AUGUST 2013

The Office Bearers reported back to Glasgow Homeowners about their meeting with the Scottish Government in relation to our demand for retrospective refunds  for GHA factored homeowners.  We also brought up the issues of defective work carried out and the overpricing of that work.  The Glasgow Homeowners were very angry at the Scottish Government for their negative position on these issues.  After much discussion, it was agreed that we will lobby the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 8 October 2013.  This lobby will take the form of lobbying of all Glasgow-based MSPs present at the Scottish Parliament in relation to the above issues.  We are asking that all GHA factored homeowners meet at 11 a.m. at Buchanan Street Bus Station at the lovers’ statue inside the bus station to travel through to Edinburgh for this lobby.

The date of the next meeting of the Glasgow Homeowners’ Campaign will be on Thursday 26 September at 7 p.m. at the Jury Inn Hotel, Jamaica Street, Glasgow.
