RESPONSE TO LAUNCH OF GREEN ECO DEAL

Today the Green Eco Deal was launched with a budget of over £40 million to give grants to Glasgow homeowners to get external wall insulation carried out for little or no cost to them.  (The cost of the external wall insulation would be met from the saving from their future energy bills.)  We are demanding of Scottish Government that GHA factored homeowners, who paid out thousands of pounds for overcladding, be reimburse in full.  This will be the message that we will be taking to the Scottish Government next week, as 24,600 factored homeowners are due a major refund on all of their bill.

MEETING WITH THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT

Sean Clerkin, Chairperson, Anne Booth, Vice Chair, Jimmy McKeown, Treasurer and John Henderson will attend a meeting with the Scottish Government on Tuesday 20 August 2013 to state our case for a full retrospective refund for all factored homeowners who have had overcladding work carried out by contractors who were employed by the GHA.

The senior Civil Servants we will be meeting are from the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Division and no doubt they will try to justify the current stance, which is to allow factored homeowners to pay nothing, or a nominal sum for overcladding work.  We will not accept that and make it crystal clear anything other than a full retrospective refund for GHA factored homeowners, who have paid an average of £7,500 after grant  for overcladding will not be countenanced.

It is very important that all factored homeowners come to our next full meeting on Thursday 29 August 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Jury Inn Hotel, Jamaica Street, Glasgow to get a full report from the above meeting with Scottish Government.  In the meantime, any factored homeowners who have a problem can contact Sean Clerkin, Chairperson, on 07948-010959.
