WARNING ON REPAIR BILLS

The GHA have recently written to you, stating how much better it will be to pay your future bills by direct debit.  I would warn you NOT to pay any repairs by direct debit, as this will invite the GHA to invent repairs that do not need to be done.  Please do take this warning seriously in order that you are not excessively overcharged by GHA.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR GHA FACTORED HOMEOWNERS

Since 2005, major regeneration and improvement works have been carried out by GHA Ltd.  To date, only homeowners who have tenants living in their block can access 50% grant for overcladding and reroofing improvements.  This policy is erroneous in that, in the original stock transfer agreement, all 26,500 homeowners had access to grant funding of a minimum of 50% as the Scottish Government set aside a minimum of £100m for factored homeowners.  This means in practice that, where a block has only homeowners have been ignored by GHA for grand funding, when in fact they are entitled to full grant funding to improve their blocks.  If you are one of these homeowners, please contact me, Sean Clerkin, on 07948-010959.  Again, I will be writing to Mr Gordon Sloan, Chair, GHA, on this issue.

INCREASED CHARGES FOR GHA FACTORED HOMEOWNERS

You willrecently have received your quarterly bill for Common Charges.  In some areas of Glasgow, like Eastwood, factored homeowners’ management fees have increased by 15% from £86 per annum to £99 per annum.  There can be no justification for this sixfold increase.  If you, as an individual, have had any of your Common Charges increased, including Management Fee, we want to hear from you.  You can contact me, Sean Clerkin, on 07948-010959.

The GHA, in their annual review of common charges, have increased the stair lighting charge by 5.4%, stating that this is in line with the Retail Price Index (inflation rate).  This is inaccurate, as the inflation rate as at 1 July was 2.8%.  Therefore, your stair lighting charge is double what it should be.  I, as Chairperson, will be writing to Gordon Sloan, Chairperson of GHA, about these excessive price increases.  Again I state, if you believe that your charges are excessive, then please contact me on the phone number above.
